2 Verona Residents Report Similar Phone Call Scams To Police
Two Verona residents said they received a phone calls from somebody claiming to be with the Publisher's Clearing House and that they had each won $250,000, according to the Verona Police Department.
The first victim told police that she received two automated calls asking for $1,250 for duties and taxes.
The second victim said she spoke with a woman who claimed to be with Publisher's Clearing House and that she was asked to send $2,500 in taxes and dues on her winnings.
Police said neither woman exchanged any money or personal information with the scam artists.
