Verona Beats Waunakee In Boys' Hockey Sectional
News

Things are getting real interesting in the WIAA hockey tournament. If you win two games this week, you're playing at state. Step one: the sectional semifinals for both boys and girls.

Verona took that first step with a 8-6 victory over Waunakee in Verona.

Both teams had plenty of scoring. In the second period, the Warriors are on the power play when Blake Anderson scores in all the chaos in front of the net to tie the game at 4-4.

With nine seconds left in the second and the Warriors again on the power play, Jason Ford scores this time to tie the game at 5 heading into the third period.

But in the third period, the Wildcats take charge. Eddie Matsushima scores just nine seconds in to give Verona 6-5 lead.

Later in the third period, Verona freshman Tarek Baker takes a big hit but still gets the puck ahead to his sophomore brother brogan for the goal.
