The top two girls basketball teams in the big 8 met in Verona Thursday Night. Janesville Parker had a chance to clinch the conference outright with a win.
Under 20 seconds to play, the Wildcat's Marissa Mears drains the three to tie the game at 50. We go to overtime.
In OT, the Vikings work the ball to Dani Fugate who scored 22.
With five seconds left in overtime, Parker is down three and they are inbounding but Verona' Lexy Richardson gets the steal. She's fouled and she ices the game with free throws. She led the way with 24 points.
The Wildcats hand Parker its first conference loss winning 60 to 55 in overtime.
Thursday's game was also fundraising for the American heart association's "Go red for women" campaign.
IN OUR GAME OF THE WEEK
Our game of the Milton at Monona Grove.
The Redhawks led 52- 51 with 20 seconds left but the Silver Eagles Taylor Nelson drives and scores to put MG up 53-52.
Milton's come right back down and Morgan Blumer is fouled and makes both free throws giving the Redhawks a 54-53 lead.
The last 10 seconds crazy for MG, Taylor Nelson misses, Autum Ogden has her shot blocked but Alexa Kelsey gets a shot off at the buzzer to win.
MG wins 55 to 54.
